Community Meeting

The City is hosting an online community meeting on Thursday, April 18 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss pavement operations which is scheduled to begin the week of April 22 in the Coffey Park Neighborhood. The meeting will cover the project schedule and phases, types of work, what neighbors can expect during the work, and plans for access in the event of fire or other emergency.

This meeting will primarily focus on the Coffey Park neighborhood, as this is where the paving operations will begin. During the meeting, a basic overview of the Fountaingrove area will be provided, however, a meeting focused on the Fountaingrove neighborhoods is being planned for late 2024.

Temporary Relocation of Bus Stop

The northbound bus stop on Coffey Lane just south of Dogwood Drive will be temporarily relocated approximately 100 feet to the north, just past Dogwood Lane, from Thursday April 18 to Monday April 22. This temporary relocation is necessary to accommodate curb ramp replacement. For more information about local transit services please visit Santa Rosa CityBus.

Paving Starts Monday on Selected Streets

Starting the week of April 22, paving work will get underway on several streets.

The work on these streets will consist of grinding and removing approximately 2-3 inches of the roadway, and replacing it with new asphalt. The full length of the street will be paved unless otherwise noted. Schedule is subject to change due to weather or unforeseen circumstances.

Scheduled for Monday April 22 and Tuesday April 23:

  • Skyview Court
  • Willowview Court
  • Skyview Drive (from Hopper Ave. to Willowview Ct.)
  • View Court
  • Ridgecrest Court
  • Starview Drive (from Crestview Dr. to Skyview Dr.)

Scheduled for Wednesday April 24 and Thursday April 25:

  • Starview Court (from Starview Dr. to end of court)
  • Crestview Court
  • Miller Drive (from Crestview Dr.to Skyview Dr.)
  • Crestview Drive (from Miller Drive to end of Crestview Dr.)

Scheduled for Friday April 26 and Monday April 29:

  • Banyon Place (from Banyon St. to Hopper Ave.)
  • Banyon Street (from Dogwood Dr. to 3601 Banyon St.)
  • Cashew Road (from Pinyon St. to Sweetgum St.)
  • Sweetgum Court
  • Stweetgum Street (from Sweetgum Ct to 3522 Sweetgum St.)

Please note:

  • This work will require some lane and street closures, and possible detours.
  • Emergency vehicle access and/or resident evacuation in event of emergency will always be accommodated.
  • The grinding work will generate unavoidable, possibly significant noise – we apologize in advance for this inconvenience.
  • Paving operations will take place on one side (direction) of the street at a time, however both lanes will be required for equipment and operations.
  • If you will need to use your vehicle on your street’s paving days, please park on an adjacent street.
  • If you have special/urgent circumstances requiring getting your vehicle in or out of your driveway while the work is taking place, please make contact with one of the on-site inspectors and they will assist you with access – however, it may not be immediate, as coordinating access will require some time.
  • There will be some periods of up to several hours where access will not be possible into or out of driveways on the side of the street where paving is taking place, when the surface has not cooled and hardened.
  • Work hours are 8 am to 5 pm (lane/road closures will be in place from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm).
  • All driveways will have access at the end of each workday.
  • Delivery trucks will be accommodated to the extent possible (they may need to park on an adjacent street).
  • Trash/recycling collection will be accommodated via coordination with the collection service.

When traveling on or near the streets being paved, please use extra caution and watch for construction crews, equipment, flaggers, and special construction/traffic signage.

Other Work Underway and Upcoming

Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or  unforeseen circumstances.

Over the next week, construction crews will continue removing existing pedestrian curb ramps and replacing them with new, ADA-compliant, ramps in the following areas around the Coffey Park Neighborhood:

  • Dennis Lane and Mocha Lane
  • Brandee Lane and Espresso Court

While this work is underway there may be times when ‘No Parking’ signs are posted adjacent to the curb ramps being replaced; however, only a few spots will be affected at a time. Additionally, sidewalks will be closed in the area of work and pedestrians will be redirected to the other side of the street for safety.

In preparation for next week’s paving, the contractor is currently working in the streets around Skyview Drive and Crestview Drive to lower manhole frames and covers. There may be some minor traffic impacts associated with this work.

Project Overview

The project will resurface 33-miles of residential City streets damaged following the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Two pavement treatment options will be applied to resurface the pavement on this project. One pavement treatment option will involve a mill-and-fill asphalt replacement and the other involves dig-out repairs and application of a latex-modified, high-volume traffic slurry seal treatment. The type of treatment applied to a street depends on the pavement condition of the roadway. The project will also include the installation of over 100 ADA-compliant pedestrian curb ramps.

Construction Notes

As with all large construction projects, there will be unavoidable disruptions to nearby neighbors and to motorists traveling in the area – we apologize in advance for noise, dust, lane closures, traffic delays, and any other impacts or inconveniences. When driving, walking, or biking in the area, always be aware of construction crews and equipment, flaggers, special signage, slower traffic, and rough roadways. Use an alternate route if possible, and allow for additional time to get to and from your destination.
