Work Underway and Upcoming

Note – the schedule is subject to change due to inclement weather and other unforeseen circumstances.

[updated!] Over the next week, construction crews will continue removing existing pedestrian curb ramps and replacing them with new, ADA-compliant, ramps in the following areas around the Coffey Park Neighborhood:

  • Skyview Drive and Crestview Drive
  • Dogwood Drive and Holly Park Way

Starting the week of April 8 the contractor is planning to begin removing existing pedestrian curb ramps in the streets around Dennis Lane and Mocha Lane.

Starting the week of April 15 the contractor will be working in the streets to lower manhole frames and covers in preparation for paving operations. There may be some minor traffic impacts associated with this work.

While this work is underway there may be times when ‘No Parking’ signs are posted adjacent to the curb ramps being replaced; however, only a few spots will be affected at a time. Additionally, sidewalks will be closed in the area of work and pedestrians will be redirected to the other side of the street for safety.

When traveling through the area please be on the lookout for construction personnel and follow all construction signage. Noise-generating working hours will be between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., with lane closures allowed between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.

As the project progresses the location of upcoming work and impacts to residents will continue to be provided in subsequent weekly newsletters.

Traffic and driveway access will NOT be impacted while work on the pedestrian curb ramps is underway. Additionally, there are no road closures anticipated for the next several weeks.

Project Overview

The project will resurface 33-miles of residential City streets damaged following the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Two pavement treatment options will be applied to resurface the pavement on this project. One pavement treatment option will involve a mill-and-fill asphalt replacement and the other involves dig-out repairs and application of a latex-modified, high-volume traffic slurry seal treatment. The type of treatment applied to a street depends on the pavement condition of the roadway. The project will also include the installation of over 100 ADA-compliant pedestrian curb ramps.

Construction Notes

As with all large construction projects, there will be unavoidable disruptions to nearby neighbors and to motorists traveling in the area – we apologize in advance for noise, dust, lane closures, traffic delays, and any other impacts or inconveniences. When driving, walking, or biking in the area, always be aware of construction crews and equipment, flaggers, special signage, slower traffic, and rough roadways. Use an alternate route if possible, and allow for additional time to get to and from your destination.
