Rain Impacts
[updated!] The forecast of rainy weather is anticipated to hinder progress on the project over the next several days. The construction of pedestrian curb ramps requires a period of several dry days to ensure the subgrade remains intact during concrete pouring. Work on the project will continue once the rainy conditions subside.Project Schedule
Over the next several weeks, as weather permits, construction crews will continue removing curb ramps and replacing them with new, ADA-compliant pedestrian curb ramps in the area of the Skyview Drive and Miller Drive intersection. While this work is underway there may be times when ‘No Parking’ signs are posted adjacent to the curb ramps being replaced; however, only a few spots will be affected at a time. Additionally, sidewalks will be closed in the area of work and pedestrians will be redirected to the other side of the street for safety.
When traveling through the area please be on the lookout for construction personnel and follow all construction signage. Noise-generating working hours will be between the hours of 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M., with lane closures allowed between the hours of 8:30 A.M. and 4:00 P.M.
As the project progresses the location of upcoming work and impacts to residents will continue to be provided in subsequent weekly newsletters.
Traffic and driveway access will NOT be impacted while work on the pedestrian curb ramps is underway. Additionally, there are no road closures anticipated for the next several weeks.
Project Overview
The project will resurface 33-miles of residential City streets damaged following the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Two pavement treatment options will be applied to resurface the pavement on this project. One pavement treatment option will involve a mill-and-fill asphalt replacement and the other involves dig-out repairs and application of a latex-modified, high-volume traffic slurry seal treatment. The type of treatment applied to a street depends on the pavement condition of the roadway. The project will also include the installation of over 100 ADA-compliant pedestrian curb ramps.
Construction Notes
As with all large construction projects, there will be unavoidable disruptions to nearby neighbors and to motorists traveling in the area – we apologize in advance for noise, dust, lane closures, traffic delays, and any other impacts or inconveniences. When driving, walking, or biking in the area, always be aware of construction crews and equipment, flaggers, special signage, slower traffic, and rough roadways. Use an alternate route if possible, and allow for additional time to get to and from your destination.
