Project Starting Next Week
Work is anticipated to begin Monday, January 8, on the Coffey Park and Fountaingrove Neighborhood Road Disaster Recovery Project. The project will resurface 33-miles of residential City streets damaged following the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Two pavement treatment options will be applied to resurface the pavement on this project. One pavement treatment option will involve a mill-and-fill asphalt replacement and the other involves dig-out repairs and application of a latex-modified, high-volume traffic slurry seal treatment. The type of treatment applied to a street depends on the pavement condition of the roadway. The project will also include replacing over 100 ADA-compliant curb ramps.
Project Schedule
(NOTE – all schedules are subject to change due to unanticipated circumstances or weather):
The contractor for this project, Argonaut Constructors, has received the notice to proceed, and initial work is scheduled to get underway next week, with preparation of the work site and demolition of the pedestrian curb ramps taking place at the intersection of Willowview Court and Skyview Drive. Work hours will be between the hours of 8:30 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.
Over the next several weeks construction crews will continue removing curb ramps in this area of the Coffey Park neighborhood and replacing them with new, ADA-compliant pedestrian curb ramps. While this work is underway there may be times when ‘No Parking’ signs are posted adjacent to the curb ramps being replaced, but only a few spots will be affected at a time. As the project progresses the location of upcoming work and impacts to residents will continue to be provided in subsequent newsletters.
Traffic and driveway access will not be impacted while work on the pedestrian curb ramps is underway. Additionally, there are no road closures anticipated for the next several weeks.
Construction Notes
As with all large construction projects, there will be unavoidable disruptions to nearby neighbors and to motorists traveling in the area – we apologize in advance for noise, dust, lane closures, traffic delays, and any other impacts or inconveniences. When driving, walking, or biking in the area, always be aware of construction crews and equipment, flaggers, special signage, slower traffic, and rough roadway. Use an alternate route if possible, and allow for additional time to get to and from your destination.
