Round Barn Blvd Striping Changes
[new!] The City of Santa Rosa has recently updated the lane striping on Round Barn Blvd. We understand this may be a new traffic pattern for many drivers, and we want to provide some important clarification to ensure safe and proper use of the roadway.Key Information
- The diagonal striped area in the right hand lane is not a driving or turn lane.
- This area was intentionally closed to vehicle traffic to improve visibility at driveways and intersections and reduce potential conflicts along the corridor.
- Vehicles should remain in designated travel lanes and avoid using the striped area except for entering/exiting at driveways.
- While not a designated bike lane, cyclists may use the striped area or the adjacent off-street bicycle path along Round Barn Blvd based on their comfort level.
These changes were made as part of as safety improvement effort and were carefully considered based on roadway conditions and traffic patterns. While this may take some adjustment, following the new striping layout will help improve safety and reduce confusion for all road users.
Construction Update
[updated!] The final striping application is now in progress. Over the next several weeks, crews will be on-site as weather allows to complete any remaining punch list items.Project Overview
The project will resurface 33-miles of residential City streets damaged following the 2017 Tubbs Fire. Two pavement treatment options will be applied to resurface the pavement on this project. One pavement treatment option will involve a mill-and-fill asphalt replacement and the other involves dig-out repairs and application of a latex-modified, high-volume traffic slurry seal treatment. The type of treatment applied to a street depends on the pavement condition of the roadway. The project will also include the installation of approximately 330 ADA-compliant pedestrian curb ramps.
Construction Notes
As with all large construction projects, there will be unavoidable disruptions to nearby neighbors and to motorists traveling in the area – we apologize in advance for noise, dust, lane closures, traffic delays, and any other impacts or inconveniences. When driving, walking, or biking in the area, always be aware of construction crews and equipment, flaggers, special signage, slower traffic, and rough roadways. Use an alternate route if possible, and allow for additional time to get to and from your destination.
